A Second chance has been given to the world about COVID-19 ?

World still has a chance to defeat virus pandemic.

The chief of the World Health Organization said on Wednesday that the world has squandered the first window of opportunity to defeat COVID-19 in the past two months and should not squander the second one now.

He listed measures that countries should take during the second window of opportunity, such as：

Expanding, training and deploying healthcare and public health workforce; 

2


Implementing a system to find every suspected case at community level;  

3


Ramping up the production, capacity and availability of testing; 4


Identifying, adapting and equipping facilities to treat and isolate patients; 5


Developing a clear plan and process to quarantine contacts; 6


Refocusing the whole of government on suppressing and controlling COVID-19.

Tedros said:

These measures are the best way to suppress and stop transmission, so that when restrictions are lifted, the coronavirus doesn’t resurge.

He warned that the last thing any country needs is to open schools and businesses, only to be forced to close them again because of a resurgence.

China has sent medical teams to countries such as Italy and Spain and has held some 20 videoconferences attended by more than 100 countries to share experiences.

Since the outbreak, Guangzhou organized a large amount of epidemic materials production.

Till  18th March, Guangzhou donated medical equipments to 12 international sister-city (including Gore, Iran; Gwangju, Incheon, Busan, South Korea; Fukuoka, Noboribetsu , Japan; Bari,  Genoa, Padua, Milan, Turin, Italy; Lyon, France) , including 2.55 million masks and 2,200 temperature gun, this batch of goods have been delivered to the destination.
